Using a Movement Exploration Approach to Teach Dance Technique

In this workshop, participants will learn how movement exploration can be used to teach dance technique. This approach to learning movement skills is designed to supplement traditional technique classes, not take their place. Throughout the session, exploration experiences are structured to facilitate the understanding of those with different learning styles. Working together with a partner is encouraged, although many of the explorations are done individually as well.

Throughout the workshop, efforts are made to show how the explorations can be used to deepen the understanding of movement materials taught in traditional dance technique classes
