USING MOVEMENT AS A TEACHING TOOL University of Northern Colorado Extended Studies Dates: September 19 to December 5 Content: Emphasis is on teaching academic concepts through movement. Participants learn to tailor movement experiences appropriate for communicating specific ideas to students. A Multiple Intelligences approach to learning is demonstrated throughout the class along with active learning teaching strategies. Dance making and connections between movement-based teaching techniques and popular educational theories are also provided. Credit: Class is worth two hours of university graduate credit. Location: Class is taught totally on-line. Instructor: Sandra Minton, Ph.D. & UNC Emeritus Faculty Minton presents many workshops for teachers, teaches in & does research in the schools. She is author of a number of books on teaching movement and has had many articles published in juried journals.
